About the Sea Freight Import Operator Role
You'll take charge of import shipments by sea, from the point of origin right through to final delivery. That means keeping documentation accurate, customs requirements met, and customers informed at every stage.
What the Sea Freight Import Operator will Be Doing
- Owning the ocean import process from start to finish
- Coordinating sea freight movements internationally, origin to destination
- Handling import paperwork: Bills of Lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin
- Making sure every shipment meets customs and import compliance standards
- Acting as the main point of contact for shipping lines, overseas agents, suppliers and customers on shipment updates
- Spotting and resolving delays, customs holds or paperwork issues before they become problems
- Keeping the logistics system up to date with accurate shipment data
- Putting together operational and management reports
- Finding cost-effective routing options
- Working alongside sales, warehouse and finance colleagues to support wider business goals
- Staying current on customs legislation and industry regulation
