The Role
Our client, a well-established freight forwarder, is looking for a Junior Ocean Freight Forwarder to join their growing team. This is a great opportunity for someone with around 12 months' experience in ocean freight to build on their skills within a supportive, experienced team.
You'll handle day-to-day ocean freight shipments, working closely with clients, overseas agents and carriers to keep cargo moving smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate import and export ocean freight shipments, both FCL and LCL
- Book cargo with shipping lines and negotiate rates where required
- Prepare and check shipping documentation, including bills of lading and customs paperwork
- Track shipments and keep clients updated on progress
- Liaise with overseas agents, hauliers and port authorities
- Resolve day-to-day queries and issues as they arise
- Maintain accurate records on the operating system
- Support senior team members with larger or more complex accounts
What We're Looking For
- Around 12 months' experience in ocean freight forwarding
- Working knowledge of Incoterms and shipping documentation
- Good communication skills, written and verbal
- Comfortable working under pressure and to deadlines
- A team player with a willingness to learn
- Experience with a freight management system is an advantage but not essential
