Overview:
This position plays a pivotal role in supporting the Government, Space, and Defence division, overseeing key client relationships, compliance, commercial performance, and operational excellence. The role is responsible for driving growth within the division, ensuring adherence to complex regulatory frameworks, and managing a small, high-performing team to deliver world-class service to global government and defence clients.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with key international clients, ensuring smooth service delivery and alignment with contractual and compliance requirements.

Oversee account performance across global locations, managing KPIs, forecasts, and service quality.

Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to design tailored logistics solutions that address global supply chain challenges.

Support commercial and compliance activities, including the preparation of RFIs, RFQs, and tender submissions.

Ensure adherence to government, defence, and export control regulations, including all compliance documentation and quality systems.

Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the division’s long-term strategic growth.

Lead, coach, and develop operational staff to ensure consistency, accountability, and adherence to compliance frameworks.

Conduct internal quality audits, address non-conformities, and prepare for ISO and other industry accreditation assessments.

Assist in developing and executing budgets, maintaining focus on margin performance and cost efficiency.

Represent the organisation at industry events, exhibitions, and customer meetings.
Key Requirements:

Must be eligible for Security Clearance (SC); existing clearance preferred.

Strong experience in freight forwarding or logistics operations with exposure to government or defence sectors.

Solid understanding of import/export compliance, customs entries, and international trade controls.

Experience managing major client accounts, delivering strategic solutions, and improving operational processes.

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage senior stakeholders.

Strong commercial awareness and ability to manage multiple projects under pressure.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and experience with ERP/TMS systems.

Minimum of 2 years in a leadership, operations, or account management role.

Confident, adaptable, and self-sufficient with strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
