Road Freight Operator - The Role
You will be responsible for handling end-to-end European road freight shipments, ensuring a high level of customer service and operational efficiency throughout the process.
This role would suit someone who enjoys working within a fast-paced freight forwarding environment and is confident managing the full operational cycle including customs requirements.
Road Freight Operator - Key Responsibilities
- Managing European road freight shipments from booking through to final delivery
- Coordinating full load and groupage movements across Europe
- Liaising with customers, hauliers, overseas agents, and customs authorities
- Preparing and completing all relevant shipping and customs documentation
- Handling import and export customs clearances
- Monitoring shipment progress and proactively resolving any issues
- Providing customers with regular updates and maintaining strong relationships
- Negotiating rates with suppliers and subcontractors where required
- Ensuring all shipments comply with current customs and transport regulations
- Supporting the wider operations team as the business continues to grow
Road Freight Operator - Requirements
- Previous experience within European Road Freight operations
- Strong understanding of end-to-end freight forwarding processes
- Experience handling customs procedures/import-export documentation
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and within a small team environment
- Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Experience using freight forwarding systems is advantageous
